Types of Numbers
a. Natural Numbers
- These are the counting numbers starting from 1.
Example: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.
b. Whole Numbers
- These include all natural numbers and zero.
Example: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.
c. Integers
- Integers include all whole numbers and their negative counterparts.
Example: -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, etc.
d. Even and Odd Numbers
- Even numbers: Numbers divisible by 2.
Example: 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. - Odd numbers: Numbers not divisible by 2.
Example: 1, 3, 5, 7, etc.
e. Prime and Composite Numbers
- Prime numbers: Numbers greater than 1 that have only two factors (1 and itself).
Example: 2, 3, 5, 7, etc. - Composite numbers: Numbers that have more than two factors.
Example: 4, 6, 8, 9, etc.
Question – Identifying Even and Odd Numbers
In a game, you need to identify the odd numbers from the set {22, 31, 44, 57, 68}.
Solution:
- Odd numbers: 31, 57.
- Even numbers: 22, 44, 68.
